Blackasotan (a term coined by Sherlonda Sharp) is the brainchild of three Black transplants who spent many a night talking about the… “unique” experience of being Black in Minnesota.
We developed Blackasotan as a platform for Black folks to share our experiences. We want to feature urban stories, rural stories, neighborhood stories, dating stories, education stories, food stories, organizing stories, political stories, native Minnesotan stories, transplant stories. Basically, all of the stories.
By focusing on the intersection of place and race (among other things), we hope to fill a gap and to encourage dialogue, thought and action around the infinite manifestations of what it means to be Black in Minnesota.
